As for many SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises,) the Trecarn team “wear many hats” and sometimes need additional resources to help with the smooth running of the Business Management system. As an ISO 9001 certified company this includes maintaining and executing a planned internal Management System audit schedule to ensure business processes are performing to plan and to identify opportunities for improvement. The standard also requires holding planned Management Review meetings, to take a more strategic look at the Management Systems and again, to put in place plans to enhance the businesses’ performance.

As and when required, I have been more than happy to assist Jamie and the Trecarn team with these tasks and where appropriate, to share my experience in improving processes. Following up on my recommendations from a Assembly processes based audit, Trecarn has now introduced at minimal cost, a best in class, paperless Standard Work facility, using shop floor electronic tablets wirelessly linked to the company’s secure computer system. This has allowed a much more agile approach to process improvements by eliminating the updating and printing of hard copy Standard Work documentation, eliminated the danger of employees working to out of date instructions, and reduced costs associated with the re-printing of multiple paged documents.
